I Like my New Truck

I don’t know if you noticed or not but Heath and I have been iffy about the whole truck swap. I really liked the old Ranger and often felt like it would last forever. The Frontier had some issues and did not ride very well in my opinion. The dealership assured me they would solve it but I was worried about it untill last night. Heath got home and we took it for a test drive going 65 on Banister and she drove strait and smooth (well as strait and smooth as can be expected on a slightly windy road).

Before all this I got home quite a while before Heath as she waited for the work to  be done at the dealership. I did some cleaning and taking out trash and then took the bad rope lights back to Lowes and swaped them for some new working rope lights. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Once we were both home and the truck was tested we headed next door for dinner at Stephen and Becky’s. They had been slaving all day over a big pot of roast, potatoes and carrots.

(by slaving I mean the crock pot was slow cooking of course)

We ate shortly after arriving and it was very tasty and a whole different flavor then anything I usually do. It had a bit of a kick to it. Becky told me the recipe but I forgot everything but the secret ingredient, 1 cup of water. So feel free to try it out at home. After dinner Stephen and I cut a board for my basement project on his table saw and played in the garage then discussed creating the ultimate office and the 4 of us talked about all sorts of random things.

Once darkness came we loaded up in the new truck I like and headed out on what I believed would be a simple mission. I had noticed 2 metal storage shelves behind Gomers in a pile of wine racks and other discarded furniture while on a run the other day. We went to go get them for some garage organization projects.

Once there we discovered one of the shelves was gone but decided to grab the other anyway. The shelf was really tall but still fit good in the truck and as I went to add a strap just in case someone aproached from beside the building. They saw us and started yelling about stealing. I had this urge to run away but we were not in the truck yet and the shelves were not strapped and it was bad timing for someone to come out. The guy started calling the police and I said it’s april you bunch of fools.

So actually we just tossed the shelves in and drove them home no problem, no police, no guy.

They are not pretty but once they are set up I imagine they will be so full of stuff you won’t be able to see them anyway.Once I got them out I found a million dollar bill taped to the underside of one of the shelves so that will be nice.

After the shelves we all went home and I headed downstairs and looked at this spot on the wall.

Then I did some cutting, screwing and glueing with Heath and we made that spot on the wall look like this

There is a new shelf up top if you can’t tell. Here is a close up.OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Once the shelf was up Heath headed to bed to read her book and I got it secured better to the studs and then began to work on the desk that will go under it like this. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I didn’t really think through what I was doing and got some support stuff connected then realized it would have been much easier to do another way. So I’ll probably take apart what I put together and then do it the way I should have. OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

It was getting late so I called it a night at this point and headed upstairs to watch House with Heath and then fall asleep.
