RT Day 7 San Francisco

Brrr it’s not the sunny coast we expected. IMG_0979

We woke up around 9 am and used the walmart bathroom and drove into San Francisco. I don’t think any of us were feeling great after a rough night of sleep. We slowly woke up on our way in. We drove over the bay bridge then the golden gate bridge. IMG_0960

The top was hidden in piles of clouds. We got out and it was cold so we pulled out warm clothes.

We took a few pictures of the bridge then headed down town. We found a parking spot and hit up a corner coffee shop.

The coffee was great and I went from feeling 25% to feeling 70%. We walked to pier 39 a big fun touristy spot.

We looked at boats and sea lions and all sorts of stuff.

 IMG_0973

It’s tough to see but this boat seats like 40 people. The sea lions were eveywhere.

We thought this was pretty cool but Peanut was really discusted by the smell.

Pumpkin makes wose smells so didn’t mind.

We split some really good clam chowder.

We walked around for 25 minutes. We got stuck in traffic on our way to lunch and decided we better go straight to the airport. We made it there slightly early and dropped off KK and Chiaki for their flight back to KC.

Then we fought traffic out of San Francisco. I only had a small coffee and a few bites of clam chowder in me and was starved. We stopped just north of San Francisco for a late lunch. Lunch was really good. Heath and I split some fried breaded Mahi mahi tacos and a open faced crab melt sandwich. Pumpkin had refried beans and avocado and Peanut had nachos on really good homemade chips.

The drive from San Francisco to Fortuna was awesome. IMG_0999
(tough to see but vineyards were everywhere)

Heath and I listened to This American Life Podcasts while Pumpkin slept and Peanut played Nintendo but the view was the best part. We drove past vineyards and streams and hills and valleys. It was sunny and clear out and it just felt like this is what a road trip was all about.

I probably needed some sleep but posing for a picture was the best I could do

We got to Heath’s uncle’s house in Fortuna, CA in time for a late but great dinner of homemade hanburgers, corn on the cob, baked beans, garden tomatoes and local organic beer. Heath’s cousin was there with her baby Ruby who is 2 or so week solder then Pumpkin.

This was a great night for Pumpkin she got to play with lots of new baby toys and stretch her legs and try to walk around. IMG_1003 IMG_1005

After dinner we got Peanut to bed and then hung out a while. Pumpkin fell asleep and slept the whole night in a crib and we slept in a real bed beside her.
