Hiking, Hiking, and a few Birthday Parties

Ok, so this will be short and sweet, but I wanted to put something up here. Chris is still hiking in the Ozarks, I would assume they are close to getting back to the van, and will be making their way home before too long.
Pumpkin and I had a busy, but uneventful weekend. Friday after Chris left, we went to target, checked out all the sales, and got a few birthday presents. Saturday morning we slept in, then had breakfast. My Grandma is still here from Florida (she is leaving on Wed) so her and my Aunt Colleen came over and spent the afternoon with us. We had Waldo Pizza for lunch, and made a trip to the DAV to look around. Saturday evening we went out to my Aunt Doris’ house for a card party for my Grandma Jenni, and sang happy birthday to my Aunt Beth. Sunday we slept in (Pumpkin till almost 10:30a), then Pumpkin created a masterpiece in the bathtub with her new favorite thing…tub crayolas. If you have kids and you haven’t had the joy of these things, I would highly suggest it. Peanut got them for her for Christmas, and she loves them. I think she would stay in the tub for hours if we let her so she could “color”. Anyways, after the tub we got ready and went to another birthday party. My cousin Brookes’ twins are turning one, so they were having cake to celebrate. We visited with Grandma Jenni, and several other family there, and then headed home. Earlier that morning, Amanda had invited us over for dinner, so after the twins’ birthday party, we went to visit Alli, Amanda, and Jon. We had a great dinner of stir-fry with brown rice and some really tender deer steak. The girls played and it was getting late, and neither of them had napped that day, we Iz and I headed out. We got home, I got Pumpkin in bed by about 7p, and I think she was asleep by 7:15p. I visited with Tony and Felicia while Felicia painted my toes.
Pumpkin was in good spirits this morning, and we are looking forward to hearing about Chris’ adventures from this weekend and seeing all the pictures!
P.S. Happy MLK Jr day. Hopefully the weather holds out because I want to grill hamburgers tonight and hang on the deck to celebrate! Here is a great quote to leave you with:
“That old law about ‘an eye for an eye’ leaves everybody blind. The time is always right to do the right thing.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
