So around 3pm or so yesterday afternoon I got an e-mail from a coworker who had 2 tickets to the chiefs game they could not use. I asked Heath what she thought, she got a little bit crazy excited and the next thing I knew the tickets were mine.
I had to run an errand after work then quickly rushed home to get the girls and myself ready. It was a bit rainy and cool so we had to get rain and warm clothes together and we were all getting hungry so we tried to make a food plan. There was no time to grill so we drove to Price Chopper on the way and grabbed a box of fried chicken and a 2lbs make your own giant salad. We got a great tailgate spot in the grass with some thick woods behind us (bathroom). Heath and I broke out the coolers and chairs and food.
It was not raining or anything yet so we ate our dinner and had a few beers. Meanwhile in the car Pumpkin picked a great time to take a nap.
It got pretty windy and cold out but she slept till we were about done with dinner. Then Pumpkin ate and it started to rain.
I put Pumpkin in the front pack and zipped her up in my jacket then we grabbed an umbrella and a few drinks and roamed the parking lot. We quickly found Heath’s aunt and uncle.
And a bit later the sun came out, the wind blew away the clouds and we got a rainbow and then no more rain.
We visited with some of Heath’s family for a while then headed back to the car to ditch the umbrellas and fill our pockets with snacks.
The there were fireworks and the game started.
We wondered around the parking lot for a while and waited for Heath’s mom and siblings
Eventually they showed up, we said hi then went to our seats. We were in the upper deck but near the front and had a really nice view of everything.
The weather was great and the clouds looked crazy. I did not do any editing or anything wierd, this is really what the sky looked like and the stadium was really that empty.
We got to watch the very end of the 1st quarter and most of the 2nd quarter then headed to the end zone where Heath’s familly was sitting. We watched her cousin play during 1/2 time.
Near the end of the 3rd quarter we headed back to our seats. Pumpkin was doing great and even learning to cheer for the Chiefs.
The chiefs won and it was close all the way to the end. The stadium was not too full so we had an easy trip back out to the car and then home. Pumpkin stayed awake till we got her in pajamas and full of milk then we went to bed too.
