There was a bit of an interesting shift in the house last night. Early on in the evening I am the sick one and Heath is taking care of me and late in the evening Heath is the sick one and I am taking care of her.
Since I went in super early and was not feeling well I headed home a little early and immediately climbed into bed. I got a little nap in but kept hearing my phone buzz w/ new e-mail and then I got a call from the station. After that I got up and found Peanut in his room quietly playing legos, Pumpkin still napping and Heath cranking out a dinner. I got Pumpkin up and changed and ready for our Parents as Teachers meeting. I put her in the highchair and she unleashed on a pre dinner meal. While Pumpkin was shoveling handfuls of noodles, green beans, cheese, and pineapple into her mouth we got the mail and found a large envelope for Peanut.
Well really it was addressed to me but I knew what it was and it was for Peanut. He was pretty excited and opened it to find a Jr. Ranger Booklet for the Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
This is our first stop on the ski adventure and we plan to drive through the park around dawn. They won’t be open when we get started so they mailed us a booklet so Peanut could do all the activities and then we can turn it in at the exit as they are opening up.
So I helped Heath with dinner, and helped Pumpkin get food and cleaned up the family room a bit and got some soft kids music playing and then our PAT lady showed up. Pumpkin was in a good friendly mood but would not say anything. Usually she is excited to show off her skills but last night she was quiet. I’m not sure if it was the full tummy or just getting up or what. She was interested in the books and puzzles the lady brought and excited to show off her baby dolls and kitchen toys. We hung out and played and read books and talked about the kids and the vacation plans and getting Pumpkin to sleep well. Peanut played legos for a while in the beginning then came out and built some race tracks with the blocks the lady brought.
We all had a good time and eventually the lady headed out and we had dinner. It was all made and keeping warm in the toaster oven so we quickly set the table and scooped up the super cheesy tuna noodle casserole.
We also had croissants and some blueberries and then randomly we got out cereal and had little piles of Aldi’s version Captain Crunch Crunch berries and Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Pumpkin ate another giant dinner. This was the point where I was feeling pretty good and Heath was not. I cleaned up the dishes and stuck the girls in the tub.
The plan was for them to relax, listen to This American Life and have a steamy bath that would help drain their noses out. Unfortunately we had a load of laundry and dishes going and there was not much hot water so their bath was a little short.
While they were in the bath Peanut got his pajamas on and his book and we ran downstairs and he read as I got the wii set up. Then he took a break and we raced some Mario Carts. Then he read a few more pages, then we raced again. We did this till the girls called down that they were done. Then Peanut brushed his teeth and I got Pumpkin’s pajamas on. Heath was not feeling better so headed to bed. Pumpkin and I sat with Peanut and listened to him finish his book. Then we tucked him in. Then we headed to Pumpkin’s room and put some vapor rub on her neck/chest and read some books and listened to sleepy music. We read a few books then turned down the light and rocked a bit then I laid her down and she seemed like she would fall right asleep.
I finished up cleaning the kitchen and getting things ready for breakfast this morning and dinner tonight. I got the laundry moved around and then took some reading on my beers.
The reading seemed really off at first like I was backtracking then I realized temperature has a big affect on the readings and since the fire is out in the basement and it is cooler down there I need to take that into affect on my readings. I decided I was ready to bottle anytime.
I headed to bed at this point. In the morning I was feeling pretty good and got up early to cut steak for fajitas, fry up a bunch of french toast and get my bottles washed.
