Things Are Looking Good

It was a busy weekend and whenever we had some free time we worked on trim around the house. We got a lot done but there is quite a ways to go. The mantle is really looking nice. Here is a before shot.

This mantle project has been partially done for years but it looks so good now. We still have some nail holes to fill in. We added a coat of stain to the existing wood as well and it made a big difference.you can see the new stain on the left and old on the right.

We also added that outlet on the side.

This gave us a nice spot to plug in lights or picture frames or anything on the mantle and it has a built in switch.I am missing a nice close up shot of it finished.

Remember all the trim I have been painting, priming and sanding. Well it was ready to go.

We also took down those lights and put up nicer ones but I didn’t take a picture.

We got all the windows and doors re-trimmed and they look good but you can see we need to paint some of the existing wood around them to match and all the trim has nail holes that need to be filled in and touched up with paint like this.

Saturday night we took a break and went to Mike’s surprise birthday party.

We ate some dinner

surprised Mike with a bunch of friends and family.

and had a good time.

Sunday Heath took the girls to her moms and I did more work on the trim and stuff until they came back and our friends came over.

We brewed some beer.

Instead of following a kit I just bought some ingredients and created my own recipe. It is a stout that should have a lot of coffee and chocolate flavors in it.

Everything went pretty well so far and it smelled great.
