I had Friday off. Thursday we were busy packing up and Friday morning we had more packing to do. Eventually we had almost everything in the van.
Then we ate some lunch and hopped in too. We drove for about 2 hrs and 15 minutes before arriving at the campsite/canoe rental place. The girls had a snack and Heath and I started unpacking.
We got our site set up and our tent and a tent for my mom. I really liked our site because it had a really big pick-nick table
and then an extra table, a big fire ring
and some other grills including a long hot water heater one.
Once we had our site all set up we took the girls to play at the playground.
We played for a bit and got hot so went and put our swimsuits on then walked down to the river for a swim. The water was nice and clear and cool. We swam around for a bit but I was worried about getting a fire started for dinner so we went back and got a fire started.
My cousins, mom and Mike showed up and we started getting out snacks and loading up the grill.
I had brought some propane and grills but was excited to cook on the giant ring. We snacked and drank while the meat cooked.
The burgers and dogs turned out great though I burnt the buns slightly.
Since it was my birthday everyone said the buns were really good burnt and gave the burgers a better flavor. Heath’s mom, her boyfriend, and Grandma showed up and I grilled some more and didn’t toast buns.
Then I took a seat and was surprised with birthday cake.
Pumpkin led us in happy birthday then helped me blow out the candles.
We all had pie and Pumpkin had some smores too and we had a good time visiting and enjoying the great weather.
My sister, Drake and Chris showed up and we quickly helped get their tent up and get them settled in. Then we all hung around the fire and played with glow bracelets and necklaces.
The kids went to bed and the rest of us stayed up and talked for a while and then we crashed too. Drake got us up early to play.
The kids played at the playground and blew bubbles and we all ate some breakfast.
After breakfast we got changed and packed our stuff. We had to wait in line for a ride up the river a bit and then it was time to canoe.
13 of us hit the water
Pumpkin rode in the middle of Heath and my canoe
She was well armed and made sure everyone got wet enough.
We got a late start but still took a lot of breaks to play.
Pumpkin got a turn at driving some too.
After about 3 miles on the river we made it back to camp. We decided to stop and eat lunch and play with our friends who had been fishing.
Pumpkin decided she was done canoeing for the day and stayed at the camp to swim and play for a while. The rest of us started a bit faster pace. We checked out a couple caves and climbed up a spring.
We paddled down river to the pick up point. A few minutes after getting out of the water a storm blew in with a brief hard rain and some strong wind. We got picked up and taken back to camp as it ended. Mom and Mike had gotten the grill going and it was ready for food.
We loaded it up with chicken, sausage, turkey, pork and lots of veggies.
Then we sat down and dug in.
Dinner was great. It was a lot of food and we just about ate it all.
We hung out a bit and a lot of our group headed home. The rest of us relaxed by the fire and cooked smores.
At about 9 we were exhausted and everyone headed to bed shortly after.
We got an early start and packed everything back up and headed home. On the way we stopped for Mexican food.
The rest of Sunday we worked on projects around the house and getting to bed early.
