While I was backpacking, Heath and the kids kept busy on Friday they ate chicken and ice cream.
Then went to the Pinewood derby for Peanut’s pack. His is Green w/ silver stripe.
He had lots of fun
The girls had lots of fun and he even won 1st for his den and got a trophy.
I am sure they did a lot of other things over the weekend. I came back Sunday night and we made a good dinner and hung out around the house watching football. Monday I had the day off and we went to the zoo.
It was a really good day at the zoo. Even though it was a holiday and pretty nice out it was not crowded and many of the animals were active. We also saw the penguins for the first time and were not in any kind of rush we brought lots of snacks and just had fun until the kids were too tired and cold.
The penguin deal was way better then we expected. It looks fairly small but was big.
Also the polar bears were not doing the normal flip off the glass and swim in a circle thing. They were both in the yard playing with a barrel and the girl was trying to keep the guy out of her area.
The kids rode the carrousel
and fed the deer
and played at the park
and rode the train
and rang the bell
and had snack breaks
and talked to some old friends
At the end of our day we watched the sea lion show but it was getting colder and the girls were all tired.

So we headed home and they laid down for naps. Peanut and I cleaned up wood in our yard that blew down on Saturday night and moved mulch.
After dumping a load in our backyard we took a load to my mom’s and put it in her backyard.
Then we went to Lowes for a few things and came home to get dinner started. The girls got up and we feasted.
Heath was worried about me withering away on my backpacking trip so bought some nice big steaks. I made some taters, corn, grilled eggplant and edemame and she made garlic bread to go along with the tasty meat.
After dinner we taught the kids about food coma and then watched a documentary about polar bears and got ready for bed.
