Heath picked up Grant Friday and we had a special family dinner. Well first we gave the kids some valentines surprises.
Bean was super excited for the balloon and was jumping all over with it.
Peanut got a loom for making braclets and stuff and he has been making them nearly non-stop ever since. Pumpkin got the wonder woman blanket we put together the night before.
Heath and I got this sweet new cell phone holder for taking timed pictures anywhere.
Dinner took a while to put together but it was totally worth it. We got a pan of cheese melting and a pan of chocolate melting and then cut up lots of fun things to dip.
The only rule we had was that each kid had 1 of each vegetable and meat before they started in on the chocolate.
Of course they liked the cheese and loved the chocolate.
I was really surprised how fast we went from starving to way stuffed. We went through most of the meat and all the strawberries but still had quite a bit of dippers and dips left when no one could eat anymore.
In the morning it was cold but the kids were rowdy so we bundled them up and took them to the zoo.
We mostly stuck to the inside stuff but checked out the polar bears and the carrousel.
We were the only ones on it. Then we went to the Tropics.
Then to the Penguins.
We checked on the goat on our way to the Discovery Barn.
Then we went back to the entrance. The kids had run around so much they were all warm and hungry. We ate a picknick lunch of sandwiches and then went into the old IMAX to watch a critter show. After the show we touched a few animals.
We went home and Peanut made bracelets and the rest of us took naps. Then we got up got dressed and went to Olives 2nd Birthday Party.
We all had a great time. The kids did crafts,
Ate dinner, sang happy birthday,
ate cake
and somehow managed to watch Olive open presents.
Then they played with Olive and her new toys and watched some movies.
We headed home late and rushed all the kids to bed. In the morning we got busy cooking and cleaning. pumpkin was first up and helped me start the cake.
I got two 8 inch circles baked and then Heath took over cake decorating.
After breakfast and picking up toys the kids worked on birthday signs and cards.
We had a pork buttt sitting in the crock pot since 5am and we made some beans and potatoes and veggies. Our family came over and the birthday party started. My mom’s birthday was last week and my Grandma’s birthday is this week.
We fed the kids first
Pumpkin was sad that Drake got to sit on her stool. They still all ate pretty good
Once everyone had their fill of pork sandwiches we brought out the cake and sang Happy Birthday.
Everyone helped blow out the candles.
Then we lit them again and sang the song again.
Then we got to cut the cake and eat it.
It was really good
We hung out until the kids got tired and then they said their goodbyes.
We took a family picture
and everyone headed out. The girls took naps, the adults cleaned up and Peanut played iPad and invited a friend over. We rented cloudy with a chance of meatballs 2, ate leftovers in burritos and popcorn and took it easy the rest of the night.
