Yesterday my site was down when I had time to post so I was not able to. Heath picked up Pumpkin and went to a cousin’s lacross game and I picked up Bean. We rushed home tossed some supplies in a backpack and then tossed the backpack and Berry in the truck and we headed out to the Little Blue River.
Bean hopped on my back
and Berry ran ahead and off we went on a great hike.
I set a fast pace and we stayed close to the river.
We hiked about 2 miles and then stopped for a banana and a drink at a picnick table by the soccer fields.
Bean got down and ran around some but she was scared of Berry so wanted back in the pack pretty soon. We checked in with Heath and then hiked back to the river and farther south.
We followed some ducks and hiked our way to the end of part of the trail and then turned around. Heath and Pumpkin were running pretty late so I let Bean out to hike.
This had the effect I was expecting and really slowed down our progress.
She liked to feel the moss and other things she saw.
and we took plenty of breaks.
We worked our way back to the picnic table and unpacked the whole backpack. We started building roast beef and ham sandwiches and divided out the green beans, carrots and cheetos. Then Heath and Pumpkin arrived and we all ate.
We were hungry and ate it up pretty quick. The girls ran off to play.
Heath and I shared a beer and cleaned off the girls leftovers.
It was getting late and Berry was getting restless under the table.
Heath took the girls in the van back to where I parked the truck and Berry and I jogged back as fast as we could. When we got to the truck we found them playing on the playground and making friends.
We played and cooled off for a few minutes then rushed home to get the kids and eventually us in bed.
Last night we had a couple things on the calendar and they both got canceled last minute and we were free to play. Heath called up the Sanders and they invited us over for dinner and playing. We hung out and the kids played all over the house. Then we ate some enchiladas, rice, beans, and salad. After dinner we decided to walk to the park.
We hung out and watched the girls climbing, digging and running around.
Then we walked back.
We put the kids right in the cars and rushed them home and rushed them to bed. I had some work work to do while Heath got them in bed and then I went out and cut up a bunch of wood. I’ve been splitting in the mornings a lot lately but ran out of rounds cut so I cut some more. Then this morning I had a lot of wood ready to split and add to my pile.
