Friday we had our last swimming lesson.
It was still pretty cold in the water but the girls did good. Afterwords we played for a bit but we were all cold and decided to head over to the playground instead. This was much nicer and worked out good. We stayed and played pretty late. Then we put the kids to bed and Heath and I watched Mud.
In the morning Heath went to the food truck and I let the girls sleep in then we joined Kelly and Drake for a trip to the farm.
Nobody was home when we got to my aunt and uncles house so we drove down to the “lake”.
Then we got busy putting worms on hooks and trying to keep hooks in the water.
On like the first cast we got a little bass.
Everyone got to touch him before we threw him back
Kelly and I were able to bait and get all the poles in the water.
Then we caught another fish.
This time it was a stinky blue gill
We tossed him back and had a snack break.
Then caught another one.
Everyone pet the sunfish.
I think we ended up with like 6 fish in an hour and a half. None of them were giant and we didn’t really plan ahead to bring any home with us so tossed them all back. After fishing we looked for pigs but the barn was empty so we played on the ramp for a minute.
We went back to the house and everyone was there. We joined them for lunch and talked and played for a bit. Then we hopped in the car and drove home. All the kids fell asleep.
Once home we unloaded and put away our stuff, then started getting ready to hang out with some friends.
We had a bunch of food truck leftovers to share and cooked some stuff to go along with them.
It was so nice out after dinner we hung out and let the kids play late.
We even got out some sparklers
They stayed up late and we stayed up late and then slept in. There was a pretty big storm overnight and in the morning Heath and I walked around the neighborhood looking at all the downed trees and power lines. Luckily our power was back up. We cleaned up the kitchen, deck and house then I laid back down in bed so the girls could get up to surprise me with breakfast in bed.
They made pancakes with sprinkles and eggs with lots of stuff in them then brought it all in to surprise me.
We ate then they brought out some presents
and made me a pirate.
After the festivities I walked down the street and found some neighbors cutting up a big tree. They said I could help and take some wood so I did and it was fun cutting and talking to them and I got over 2 big truck loads of wood.
Bean took a nap and we ate some lunch then we ran errands. The best stop was KC Bier Co.
We got a few nice German Beers
and I got to enjoy them while the girls were happy and could play.
They have a big outside seating area w/ toys for the kids and even a little mini bar where they can fill pitchers and cups with gravel. They had a good time.
Then we went home and got dinner cooking.
For the first time we made grilled pickles.
we sliced and grilled some cucumber and then let them sit in vinigar, sugar and salt. They turned out great and everyone really enjoyed them. After dinner we had dessert.
I think it was something chocolate.
Then we went for another walk to check on the progress of the trees in our neighborhood. We were pretty tired after that and everyone went to bed.
Last night we all headed into the back yard and cut down a ton of brush and cleared out so much stuff. It took most of the night and was a lot of work but I think all of us had fun. Then we showered and got in bed.
