I went into work early Monday and escaped early after a very busy day finishing up and getting things ready for our trip. I picked up the girls on the way home and Heath and Grant had nearly everything ready to go. We did some last minute packing and crossed the last few things off our list then Heath’s brother James took us to the airport.
I didn’t get any good pictures but we were pretty adorable pulling our bags through the airport with the little one following behind.
Our first surprise was finding our main bag was 17lbs over the weight limit. Fortunately we were early and had time to unpack it and move a bunch of stuff around and get both bags just under the limit. We went through the metal detectors and ate dinner while waiting at our gate.
We had hard boiled eggs, tuna, crackers, granola, PB pretzels and lots of snacks.
First we flew to Denver and Bean and I sat in one row and Heath and the big kids sat behind us.
The flight went pretty good but we had to circle Denver a few times to get around a storm. Getting in late we just had time to get off one plane, change a diaper and then get on the next plane.
This time I sat with the big kids and put on the Lego movie from my laptop for them. They watched it and then went to sleep. It looked like Heath and Bean watched Despicable Me 2 on the ipad and then went to sleep.
I was powering through a long book and nearing the end so I read as much as I could on both flights. It was kind of an interesting flight as it was nearly dusk when we left Denver and then it got kinda dark and when we arrived in Anchorage it still felt like dusk.
We woke up the kids and got their shoes back on and most of their stuff back in their bags and found Pops and Annie waiting for us. We picked up our bags and headed to their house. It was like 3:30am for us on KC time but only 12:30 in Alaska.
We got the kids back to sleep after a quick ride to their house. Then we had a beer and visited for a few minutes before closing the dark out curtains and going to bed.
