It was another full weekend. When I got off work I picked up the girls and then drove over and got Peanut. Heath was working the food truck. I was going to try to get the lawn mowed real quick when I got home but it started to rain and Briana called and asked to come over before I got there.
Once home we cleaned up a little bit then Briana, Jon, Jeremy and Kelsy came over and we snacked and had a few drinks and the kids played. At the kids bedtime our friends left and we got pajamas on and then kids in bed. Then Stooks, Stephen and Jon came over and we got some Izzyball going in the driveway. It had stopped raining and was nice and cool out. We played 6 really good games and it was late when we called it a night. Heath got home just before we finished.
Heath left to go work on the food truck in the morning.
I got the kids up and fed them then we went to Home Depot.
We built bird houses.
They really enjoyed it.
3 kids armed with hammers went a lot better then I expected.
Painting was kind of the craziest part.
They all turned out really well even though Bean mixed up a bunch of the paint.
After making the bird houses we decided to stop by the Kansas City Community Garden place in swope park. While working in our bed last week our representative mentioned there was a big deal going on. There was a ton of people there and we went strait to face painting.
We got a butterfly, birthday cake and minecraft.
After face painting they needed tattoos. This line was pretty slow but we were determined. We got tinkerbell
and a birthday cupcake
After the tattoos we got back into the paint and this time it was to paint gourds.
Peanut decided to get a 2nd face painting and we checked out an owl and snake.
Then the kids got hungry so we got a snack. You can see Peanut’s minecraft sword things.
We went to check on horse rides after our snack but the workers were taking a lunch break and we didn’t have time to wait. We went home and I got busy packing up quick and feeding the kids. We got the van loaded, the cooler loaded and the kids fed then Heath got home and we loaded up. The kids were worn out.
For the most part.
Actually Peanut got new books at the fair thing and read for almost 2 hours and Heath and I relaxed and sipped coffee. Then we got to Tony’s farm. We hung out with him and his friend Caroline and her son and then went fishing.
In no time we were pulling them in.
Everyone caught something most were kind of small but some were really small.
Yes, my sunglasses are awesome.
The sun was heading down so we rode 4 wheelers back up to the house and set up for the night. We set up tents and started a fire.
The kids were crazy about the corn in the field beside us.
We quickly got hot dogs cooked for the little ones.
And big pots of sweet potato and regular french fries. Then we got some more exciting things going for us.
We fried a bit of bacon in a pan then added a bunch of duck meat I got from my sister. We also added peppers, onions, mushrooms and taco seasoning. Then we rolled up some great fajitas.
The kids moved onto smores.
We got the kids in bed and they were so tired they went right to bed. We had a few drinks and hung out by the fire before going to bed. It was a nice cool night in the tent and the kids slept in good. We were in a nice barn shadow until after 9.
We cooked up hashbrowns, eggs, pancakes, bacon and apples for breakfast.
Then we played some more on the 4 wheelers.
Eventually we had to pack up everything and head home. The girls slept a little bit on the way home but we rushed right to Peanuts soccer game.
I thought he may be really tired but he ran and played very hard.
Unfortunately his team still lost the game.
Granny Donna came to the game and we had skipped lunch and everyone was kind of hungry. We eneded up stopping at a HyVee buffet and everyone chowed down on a really healthy lunch and dinner.
We went through a bunch of plates before finally heading home. The house was kind of a disaster and the kids were a mess so Heath tossed them in the tub/shower and got busy on the inside and I got the lawn mowed. Then we all went to bed early.
