Thursday night the Sanders girls came over to play.
Besides watching them and doing dinner and stuff we packed up for the weekend and made up all the breakfasts for Friday.
We woke up early Friday and tossed all the kids in the van. We dropped Peanut off at his dads then drove down to Wichita.
I set up the trip with work to visit the NPR station down there. I was going with a few coworkers but they backed out and Heath and the girls decided to come with me and visit aunt Jendra. They dropped me off at the station at about 9:30 and I had a great time. I got a ton of great ideas and answers. While I was learning about radio the girls went to a nature center to learn about Kansas wildlife.
It sounded like they all had a great time.
They picked me up for lunch and we got some Mexican.
Then they went to the hotel and I went back to the station. We decided to book a room at the Drurry.
It was more expensive then we usually like to spend for a hotel but we didn’t find a lot of indoor stuff to do in Wichita and this hotel had a good pool, good breakfast and basically free dinner and drinks though they call it snacks.
The girls checked in and had some trouble with the key cards so had to talk with the lady in the lobby twice. The second time the lady felt bad and upgraded us to a big suite for free. There was a big room for Heath and I
plus another sitting room with a desk, fridge microwave, tv and pull out couch for the girls.
They all laid down and took some naps. My day ended at 3:30 and I started the 4.3 mile walk to the hotel. I texted Heath and when Jendra got there she came to pick me up on the way. I probably speed walked 3 miles before she found me.
When I got back everyone was ready to swim. They got suits on and headed to the pool. I went to get some more bags at the car and then joined them. Before I got there Pumpkin slipped and bumped her chin. She was sad but okay.
The tile around the pool was like regular tile and supper slick. She was better in no time and having lots of fun.
So was Bean
We swam a bunch, and hot tubbed a bunch and had some drinks.
When we were done Heath and Pumpkin went by the front desk to tell them the floor is really slick and they should put something down. She ran into an old classmate from PSU and he gave us a coupon for a free night. We were all starving so just got dressed and went to dinner in the hotel with Jendra and her boyfriend. The snack bar included 3 free alcohol drinks for the adults and all the juice and soda you want. Also there was baked potatoes, hot dogs, pop corn, soup, chili, salad, fruit, nachos and pasta.
We stuffed our faces. We relaxed in the room for a bit then went swimming some more. The girls rinsed off in the shower and then fell asleep hard.
In the morning we had giant breakfasts. We had forgotten Bean’s shoes and only had sandals for her so we ran to the dollar general and got her a cheep pair. Then we went to the Exploration Place. it was right across the river from the hotel. This place had a ton of stuff to do. We started out building gingerbread houses.
Then we met a gingerbread man.
Then we moved on to real exploring. Some things were strange
