Friday we knocked out dinner quick. Then put on our boots, grabbed some bike helmets and went out past Lee Summit for horseback ridding lessons for the big kids.
Just before Christmas we saw a groupon deal for an hour lesson and we signed them both up. Peanut went first and we watched him through a window in a little heated office.
We took pictures of him but they are rough.
He did all the prep work, getting the horse ready and stuff and helped bring it out into the ridding area then he was able to get on and learned the commands and how to control his horse Morgan. They started pretty slow but in no time he was really having fun.
They even did a racing stance.
When his hour was up Pumpkin headed out and hopped right on.
She did all the same learning on controlling and stuff.
Once her ride was over she helped take off the saddle and put the horse away. Basically the opposite of Peanut’s lesson. They both had tired legs and lots to tell us about the lesson on the way home and wanted to sign up for more lessons.
We were pretty beat and just headed to bed when we got home.
Saturday the girls got me up early and after a quick run I got busy making breakfast with them.
We made this interesting monkey bread biscuit thing and some flowers.
Everyone else got up and we opened Valentines presents while it was cooking.
Then we ate our breakfast.
It all turned out pretty good. We ate quick and then changed and headed to Peanut’s soccer game.
They got beat but he scored 3 goals.
After the game we decided the weather was as nice as it was going to be for days so we hit up the park.
We all played a bit and got some good exercise.
We also worked up an appetite. We needed some special groceries for Valentines dinner and headed to HyVee and decided to eat lunch there. We got after the salad bar and then dessert section.
Then we headed home for naps and chores and errands. Then we all helped get a big Valentines dinner going.
It was quite a project. We did fondu with chocolate and curry and a ton of things to dip in them.
Also we had some nice big tuna steaks to not dip.
We also had special drinks.
Once everything was ready we had a picknick in the family room around the chocolate and curry.
It was delicious.
We took our time and hung out eating and watching the fire until bedtime.
In the morning we started out with a quick run to Ward Parkway to look at shoes. The shoe store was not open yet so we ended up wondering around target and getting lunch and doing way more shopping and using up more of the day they we expected but Heath and I both ended up with new shoes we really like.
We quickly got the kids resting when we got home and then went to Olives’ birthday.
We all had a lot of fun.
We stayed a long time and then were ready for bed. We got cleaned up, pajama-ed up and booked up then went to bed.
