Thursday morning I woke up at like 4:50am when UMKC called to say work was canceled. I looked outside to take pictures for the radio station website but there was no snow yet so I went back to bed. I think it was around 7:30 or so when we all got up and it was poring down snow.
We were all pretty excited.
We got busy making cinnamon rolls and let Berry out to play and measured the snow.
Alex came over and joined us for Cinnamon rolls and played some legos with Peanut and it kept dumping snow.
Once we were all fed we headed outside to play.
and our neighbors came out to play too
It was kind of cold and blowing/snowing hard so the little ones did not last long but everyone had some fun.
Then we headed inside for hot chocolate.
The rest of the day was uneventful beside pie dinner.
left is chicken pot pie, loaded with veggies and right is apple cinnamon pie.
In the morning work was canceled again and an SUV had slid into our ditch.
I started shoveling the driveway and eventually a neighbor came and worked on getting his car. Alex and I ended up helping him get it out. I shoveled most of the snow into 1 pile so later on Peanut and Heather started turning the pile into a fort.
Pumpkin and I joined them after our naps.
Peanut headed to his dads house and Heath and Pumpkin went sledding down the street with neighbors while I kept an eye on sleeping Bean.
Saturday we got to play a little bit and spent the rest of the day going to Peanut’s soccer game and scouts.
It was a cowboy themed Blue and Gold banquet.
Jon came by Saturday night and had a few drinks with Heath and I and we decided to expand the snow fort in the morning.
The sanders showed up early as we were finishing breakfast and we put the babies to bed and everyone got busy.
While we were moving snow we also built a small fire and tossed a deer roast in the dutch oven.
The pile got well over my head and bigger then a car. So we started clearing out a nice big cavity.
We tried moving out coals to the inside but it was too smoky, even with a smoke hole up top.
I wish I had taken a picture from a ways out when we had it at the highest point. It was hot yesterday and the whole thing shrunk quite a bit.
We ate the roast and it had burned a bit on the bottom but otherwise tasted great. Afterwords we relaxed and watched a movie and then our friends went home. We did some cleaning up then went to Chellys for dinner and McDonald’s for dessert.
We all took baths and showers and we had the girls in bed at 7:30 and Heath and I down by 8:30.
