I’ve got 2 weekday posts for you squeezed into one. We have been really busy with adding swimming lessons into our evenings. Tuesday night we decided to ride our bikes to the pool.
While I got bikes and stuff ready to go, Heath made the girls PB&J sandwiches and packed snacks to eat on the trail.
I’m not sure if we had not rode in a while or where still full of bacon grease but the bike ride was exhausting for Heath and I. We still got to the pool early and took a break at a picnic table and finished dinner.
Then we headed into the pool and cooled off while waiting for lessons.
About 10 minutes later the lessons began and the kids got in the pool.
They kicked feet, scooped arms, blew bubbles, jumped in and played.
At one point Bean slipped and went under and could not stand up. The guard scooped her right out but she needed a hug before getting back in.
Then the lessons ended and we got in to cool off some more and play with the kids.
We stayed pretty late playing and going down the sides and jumping in the deep end.
Then we rode our bikes home and got ready for bed.
Thanks to Becky for taking good swimming pictures where you can actually see whats going on.
Last night I got stuck at work on a big project and got out late. Heath had dinner ready and I picked up the girls and we started stuffing our faces. Heath left right away and once we had eaten we joined her at the raised garden beds at the school.
There was a lot of veggies to harvest and tons and tons of weeds to get rid of.
It seemed kind of hopeless at first but we all sat down and started pulling and making piles of weeds.
Things started looking good as new
and we found treats along the way
I worked until all the weeds were gone and then packed up some messy kids to go to swim lessons.
Heath and friends got new plants planted.
and cover down
and cages up
I’m really excited about the next batch of veggies, a whole box of strawberries, one of tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, zucchini and sweet potatoes. All things we eat a lot of. This morning I mixed in a bunch of stuff we picked into our breakfast.
Swimming lessons went good the kids practiced and had fun.
Pumpkin’s class really worked on diving underwater to get a ring off the bottom and I think she really had fun with that.
After class Becky and I let the kids do the slides a while and climb around on the turtle and crab then we headed home. Heath got home just after we did and took over getting the kids in bed. I rode my bike over to Tony’s house and helped him move a washer and dryer into his basement and 2 dryers and a washer out of his basement.
Then I rode home and Heath and I got cleaned up and in bed.
