I don’t remember where I left off with the back yard but the jungle is tame at least for now.
and much of the rest of the back yard is also chopped up and everything is burned. The next project back there will be laying 100 paver stones.
The plan is to never need to step in dirt/mud when getting in and out of the pool this summer or getting wood from the shed this winter.
Up front we removed man wheelbarrow loads full of bermuda grass and roots and possibly contaminated soil.
We dug down a ways and then got building.
We found scraps from the sandbox and the old walls inside the house and put them together.
Right along the front of the bed.
Besides looking nicer then I expected I hope it will help keep grass and weeds from blowing in. Once the border was done we stappled down a few layers of the plastic barrier stuff and then added lots and lots of clean dirt.
Once it was full of dirt we started planting.
We actually planed and unplanned several times and moved dirt in and out and none of that really makes seance. Eventually though we got the box full of plants and seeds.
We have cabbage and Brussels sprouts nearest the door and then we ran strings across and made little rows of spinich, kale, swish chard, cilantro and carrots. After all those seads we planted a few blue potatoes on “the deep end”
We have 3 tomato plants and upside down planters that we will hang from above and then we just need to keep everything weeded and watered for a while. The girls also made a planter and planted their own flowers.
Gardening and yard work has been taking a lot of our time but this weekend we also had a big sushi fest.
We made lots of rolls.
and everyone ate really well.
I also ran the Brew to Brew race this weekend on my work team and Heath drove us to the various legs of the relay.
We had two really fun teams from KCUR. In the morning the weather was pretty cold and rainy.
But by the end it was great out.
I ran a little over 5 miles and it went great.
After getting everyone home we picked up the kids from my moms house and got some Chinese buffet. Then we went to the park to burn some off.
Also we got a new tent!
That closest section is all screen and a porch area w/ no floor. Then the rest of the tent is split into 2 rooms. We have been too busy to go anywhere and camp so we had a backyard campout Friday. We watched a movie outside while eating dinner.
and grilled smores on a brush fire.
Then we told stories around the fire and went to bed. I went to work early the next day and after breakfast Heath took the kids to the nature center.
Then they started the hike behind the building.
I got done with work and rushed to catch up during snack break.
I did catch them.
It was a really nice day for a hike.
We worked up a giant appetite and got some Waldo Pizza once done. With full tummies it was nap time. Pumpkin took advantage of the empty tent.
Alright that’s it all caught up.
