Thursday I stayed up way too late watching the Royals in extra innings and testing the home brew keg. I was kind of dragging on Friday but looking forward to cutting some wood. After work heath and I assembled the kids and lots of gear and made up some curry real quick then headed north. There was a little daylight and the kids were being good so we took advantage and started dealing with brush.
We broke up brush, tossed it on the trailer, fed it into the chipper.
Then repeated.
We got a bunch of the brush turned into mulch before the dark and hunger chased us off. We ate and hung out and got the kids all asleep. Then we did a little tune up on the chain saws and got ready for real lumberjack day. I got pretty tired and we headed to bed.
When I got up it had just stopped raining. We started getting set up for more cutting and breakfast. The crew started showing up and congregating around the breakfast grill.
We had burritos filled with eggs, sausage, hash browns, cheese and Bacon of course.
Then it was time to cut.
We fired up the saws and dug in.
I had put a fresh chain and bar on my saw and it was cutting like a dream.
In no time we had trailers of rounds.
We fed the rounds into the log splitter one by one.
And fed the rest of the brush through the chipper.
Early in the afternoon it started to rain again and we all moved into the shed for a drink break.
Even the little ones.
These guys ran around all day doing a really good job of staying away from the dangerous stuff and not complaining too much.
At lunch break we had some great burgers.
Then back to work; cutting, hauling, chipping, splitting and then stacking.
At some point we filled the firewood area and ran out of trees.
So we called it a day, cleaned off the rented equipment and Brian returned it while Courtney got us all some BBQ for dinner. Of course I got the dirtiest.
We ate great all day but had worked hard enough to be hungry again. My kids had stayed up late and had no nap so they were really getting tired/crabby. Once they were fed we rushed home and they fell asleep right away on the drive. We all went strait to the showers and into pajamas. Peanut and I watched X-Men Days of future past and after food truck Heath joined us.
In the morning I was stiff and so we took a light jog to loosen up. We ran/rode down to the Lamars and got some donuts.
Then we ran home and got some lunch and cleaned the house and Bean took a nap while everyone else went to Peanuts soccer game and I mowed the lawn. Then we all headed to walmart but the weater was great so we stopped for deck beers and nachos on the way.
After Walmart went home for dinner and bed.
